Jack Daniels releases new Bourbon, first time in 20 years. #history #culture #whiskey #bourbon

A new bourbon is being released by our friends at Jack Daniels. The new bottle, called Coopers' Craft, will only be available in a few states for now, but undoubtedly will be released nationally as more product becomes aged properly.

A little about the bourbon:
“Coopers’ Craft is the result of decades of experience in mastering barrel-making and maturation techniques to create truly unique bourbons,” Lawson Whiting, executive vice president and chief brands and strategy officer for Brown-Forman Brands, said in a statement[.] “Owning our cooperage is a testament to this expertise and brings to life the notion that what matters most, we do ourselves.”

On passover it's common to drink wine, and while we here at TDP love wine, we love our spirits as well. What can and can't we drink? The Gefilteria has a great answer over at The Kitchn.

Picklebacks and a Country Club - The Drinking Press - Episode 2

This week's episode of The Drinking Press we talk about Picklebacks. Picklebacks consist of a shot of whiskey followed by a shot of pickle juice. This is designed to cut the burning sensation of a "value price" whiskey. We talk to Reggie Cunningham, the creator of the Pickleback as we know it, and John Roberts, owner of the Bushwick Country Club, the bar at which it was created. Our host Char, despite having nothing but contempt for pickles even has the opportunity to try a pickleback for the first time! Take a listen to see what he thought of it.

Picklebacks are good for your health! #picklebacks #history #culture

Something about the title doesn't make sense right? Healthy and alcohol don't tend to mix, except if it's wine. But in reality, picklebacks are good for your health. Pickle juice has a bunch of great things going on with it that help you. Check out this article about the health benefits of pickle juice.

A good piece from the article:
[Pickle juice] replenishes electrolytes in the body and it contains ten times the electrolytes as most sports drinks. The high electrolyte content promotes hydration and functions and as an antidiuretic which can prevent dehydration while consuming alcohol and aid hangover recovery the following day.
