An Illustrated Guide to Cocktails from the South #derby #drinking #history

In honor of the Kentucky Derby which just wrapped up a couple weeks ago, we present The Kitchn's Illustrated Guide to Cocktails in the South.

A classic cocktail, and Derby favorite, the Mint Julep, is described:
[A] drink[] like the Old Fashioned, a muddle of bitters, sugar, and bourbon or rye whiskey crowned with a cherry and an orange, and what might be the South's most beloved beverage — especially around this time of year. The mint julep features bourbon, combined with muddled mint, sugar, and water, and poured overtop a heaping mound of crushed ice.

Visit us at The Drinking Press, and drink the Derby with us.
